DESCRIPTION:Want to try some competitive bike races this summer? \nWant to WIN some races this summer?! \nJoin EPRD for our Youth Gritty Grind MTB Race Series! \n**************************************************************** \nRaces are for all youth 2 – 14 years old – from Strider bikes and up! \nRaces will take place Tuesdays (7/21\, 8/18\, 9/15) at 5:00pm on the MTB Skills course behind the Wulf Rec Center. \nRaces will be in a cyclocross format – timed\, plus one lap. \nRacers will earn points based on finishing position. \nPoints will accrue across the series and after 3rd and final race\, rider with the most points wins. \n1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd place winners for each category – spirit awards too\, wear your best outfit!! \nCategories – \n– Boys and Girls\n– Ages 2-5 (Striders only)\n– Ages 6-8\, 9-11\, 12-14 (Pedal bikes\, no restriction on size) \nRace Parameters – \n– 2-5 – one lap\n– 6-8 – 15 mins\, plus one lap\n– 9-11 – 25 mins\, plus one lap\n– 12-14 – 35 mins\, plus one lap \nCourses may include tarmac\, gravel\, hardpack\, loose soil and wooden features. \n**** Riders must wear helmets at all times while riding. **** \n**** Gloves\, eye protection and other protective equipment is highly recommended. **** \n**** Bikes should be mechanically sound with working brakes. **** \n**************************************************************** \n**** See link below for registration! \n**** You may register for each race individually\, or for the series at a discounted rate **** \n**** Registration fees increase $5 for day of registrations. SUMMARY:Karen Hornbostel Memorial Time Trial Series
DESCRIPTION:Since 1991\, the KHMTT has been a spring rite of passage—Wednesday evenings at Cherry Creek State Park—where riders gather to test themselves against Colorado’s mercurial weather and a deceptively beautiful course. \nWe race with purpose. The KHMTT is a fundraiser supporting the Cancer Fitness Institute—founded in memory of Karen Hornbostel—and Bicycle Colorado. Karen Hornbostel was a four‑time masters national road champion who\, despite a 13‑year battle with metastatic breast cancer\, pioneered a groundbreaking fitness program for cancer patients. Her vision grew into what is today the Cancer Fitness Institute\, improving the quality of life for thousands of survivors. Her courage and leadership continue to inspire every ride. \nThe COBRAS and the KHMTT are proud to support these organizations. SUMMARY:Emma Roubaix (Road Race)
DESCRIPTION:All categories race the same course. From the race start at the Emma Schoolhouse\, racers head up East Sopris Creek Road to a T-intersection with East and West Sopris Creek Roads. Turn left (east) onto East Sopris Creek Road. The paved road gives way to a mag chloride treated dirt surface about a mile up East Sopris Creek and continues on dirt until the crest of the climb. From this point\, the road continues as a paved descent into the Capital Creek valley. At the intersection with Capitol Creek Road\, ALL racers will turn sharply right and climb Capital Creek Road about 4.5 miles to the turnaround point past the Monastery and just before the end of the pavement. Descend back down Capitol Creek Road to the intersection with Snowmass Creek Road. Bear right onto Snowmass Creek Road. Ride to the end of the pavement with a finish at the intersection of Shield-O Rd and Snowmass Creek Rd. The course for all riders is approximately 21.4 miles with 2\,400 feet of elevation gain.
