Our Team

Our team of advocates, specializing in policy, education, and bike event support, amplifies the voices of our members and partners across Colorado to demand changes that expand access to safe biking and walking.

Staff Members

Pete Piccolo
Executive Director | Pete brings over 30 years of leadership experience in both nonprofit and corporate sectors. A lifelong cyclist, Pete has combined his passion for biking with a commitment to community impact. His background includes launching youth cycling programs and leading innovation initiatives at Denver Public Schools. He joined Bicycle Colorado in 2018.
Deborah Armstrong
Director of Membership and Development | Deborah oversees the fundraising arm of our organization. She returned to the non-profit sector after a 20-year career in higher education fundraising. Deborah is originally from upstate New York and has been in Colorado for three years. She is a triathlete, a certified triathlon coach and a current coach for the Colorado Wild Women Triathlon team.
Justin Millar
Finance Director | Justin plays a pivotal role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the organization. With over 10 of experience in nonprofit finance, Justin brings a wealth of knowledge in financial management, budgeting, and compliance to the team.
Todd Stevenson
Membership Manager | Todd has been a part of the Colorado bike scene for multiple decades. He has supported junior clubs, run a national junior development road team, raced as a club master, directed events, and—most recently—led the charge to resurrect the Boulder Valley Velodrome. Todd knows what it takes to put on a successful event and understands the needs of Colorado cyclists.
Ashley Vander Meeden
Marketing & Communications Manager | Ashley is passionate about using marketing to inspire people to get outside. In addition to other industries, she spent over 10 years working in the outdoor industry in marketing roles. Ashley always finds a way to incorporate adventures into both her work and personal life, such as maintaining a 2,500+ day run streak, riding in Bike MS events, and embarking on epic camping trips with her family.
Benedict Wright
Education Manager | Benedict learned to ride a bike on the streets of Denver’s Montclair neighborhood and has been a bicycle and transit commuter since. He brings a background as an educator, bicycle mechanic, volunteer coordinator, and passionate bike rider. He believes bicycling education and policy help to build safe communities, combat the climate crisis, and create a healthier and more equitable society.

James describes himself as a curious voyager by bike. Whether exploring urban streets, commuting, or touring the solitude of backcountry routes, riding bikes is deeply rooted in his core being. With a background in public safety and emergency services, he strives to share his years of bicycling experience to encourage and help people safely embrace their own love of riding.

Join Our Team

With the support of our members and partners in the public and private sectors, Bicycle Colorado has been advocating to expand access to safe biking and walking since 1992. Our team focuses on securing funding for bike and pedestrian infrastructure, passing laws and policies protecting bicyclists and pedestrians, and equipping people with the knowledge and skills to safely use roads, bike lanes, and paths.
