Rules Of Multi-Use Paths

Help keep paths a safe and comfortable place for people of all ages and abilities to ride.

Many multi-use paths have a 15 mph speed limit. Regardless of the speed limit, adjust your speed based on conditions and for the safety of you and other trail users.
Yield or stop to look for any cross traffic before entering a trail. Ride to the right and pass others on the left.
Give an audible signal with your voice or a bell as you approach others to communicate before passing. Signal as you enter or exit a trail to let others know your intent.
Give others a comfortable space of a few feet when passing. Do not pass others unless you have a clear view of oncoming trail users to judge when it is safe to pass.
Most paths that allow bicycles also allow class 1 and 2 electric bicycles. However, local Colorado governments have ultimate control over where e-Bikes can be ridden, so be sure to check your local ordinances.

Animals, including horses, are easily startled. Give animals enough room and time to adjust to you. When passing horses, use special care. Slow down, yield, and be prepared to stop. Follow directions from horseback riders (ask if uncertain).
