Bikes Together 4-Part Mechanic Series

May 11 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Event Series (See All)
$300

Bikes Together’s most popular, comprehensive and fun bicycle mechanics series! Students of this 4-Part Mechanics Series will learn everything from general bicycle maintenance to in-depth mechanics, and all about the internal workings of the systems of the bicycle. See our website for upcoming class dates and times: https://www.bikestogether.org/s/shop

All classes include hands-on practice and exploration with instruction from our talented, knowledgeable and lovable instructors. Students will leave with increased confidence to use, maintain and repair their own bikes — and the bikes of their friends and neighbors, too — and get or stay connected with this welcoming and collaborative bicycle community in Denver. The series costs $300 per person, scholarships available. We also offer GEM (Gender Equality Mechanics) classes, specifically for folks who are marginalized by bike culture due to their gender (this includes women, trans folks of all identities, girls, gender-non-conforming folks, two spirit and femmes of all stripes).

2 hours, once a week for 4 weeks. 8 students max per series. No prior mechanical experience necessary! We provide tools, supplies, and bicycles for demo and practice.

Class Topics:
Class 1: Introductions, Anatomy, Fix A Flat and Tubeless tires, ABCs of Bike Maintenance
Class 2: Brake types, including mechanical and hydraulic disc brakes*, and Cables. *However, we do not bleed brakes in this class.
Class 3: Derailleurs, Shifting and Chains
Class 4: Ball Bearing Systems and Wheel Truing
