Earth Day Remarks
The following are the remarks delivered at the Colorado State Capitol on April 22, 2026, for an Earth Day gathering, hosted by Representative Junie Joseph. Happy Earth Day! My name
At Bicycle Colorado, we advocate for all people who ride bikes. We envision a Colorado where all people and communities benefit from safe and accessible bicycling.
Fatalities involving bicyclists and pedestrians in Colorado have climbed to record levels, reflecting an alarming and unacceptable trend. This is not just a statistic—it’s a crisis that demands urgent action. Nobody should have to endure the loss of their loved one due to traffic violence. Together, we can make Colorado a safer place to bike and protect lives.

We help bicyclists feel safe riding where and when they want by pursuing infrastructure funding and laws that protect vulnerable road users.

From teaching kids to ride, empowering adults to ride safely, or training other bike educators, bike education programs make it possible for more people to safely enjoy the benefits of biking.

From rides to competitive races, bike events inspire people to ride, build community, and contribute economic value. Safety is crucial to the sustainability of bike events.
Our comprehensive calendar is your go-to source for both competitive and non-competitive rides and races, as well as advocacy and educational events throughout the state.
Together, we can make Colorado a safer place to bike and protect lives. We can do it with your help. There are so many ways to be a part of the movement for safer biking.

Donate today and you’ll become a member, contributing crucial funding to support impactful bike advocacy, comprehensive education initiatives, and engaging events throughout the state.

Whether you want to advocate for safer streets, volunteer, or show support, there are various ways to build a better biking future in Colorado. Explore ways to connect with your community, and make an impact.
