Attending Safe Streets Day 2026

Group of advocates at the Capitol

What You Need To Know

We need your story at Safe Streets Day at the Capitol on Wednesday, March 18th. Each year, we gather people for our annual lobby day. You’re invited to join us and advocate for safer biking. Every ride should be safe.

Want more and better options for biking and walking? Want the communities where you live and work to have safer roads? This is your chance to speak up for better biking and walking. Do it for yourself, your family, your neighbors, and your friends.

The event is brief—from 8 to 10:30 a.m—and free. Registration for Safe Streets Day is open to the public and includes coffee, tea, and a light breakfast.

Your legislators want to hear from you. YOUR voice makes a difference.

What To Expect

Safe Streets Day at the Capitol makes it easy to participate in democracy. You just need to register and show up at the Capitol. No experience necessary! We’ll guide you on how to speak up and advocate for bike- and pedestrian-friendly legislation.

The session will begin with an orientation to prepare you for a productive conversation with your legislator.

Topics will include:

  • How does a bill even come to be? How does a bill become a law?
  • Where the bike- and pedestrian-friendly bills are in the legislative process
  • Coaching on how to get the most out of your chats with legislators
  • Q&A

We’ll host a light breakfast with coffee and tea, encouraging legislators and their aides to come by, grab a bite, and meet with their constituents attending. There is no schedule or appointments; think of it as a “meet and greet” with your legislators and their teams.

Elected officials take seriously the concerns expressed in person by those they represent. They want to meet with their constituents, that means you!

Start The Conversation

Visit our Action Center to let your legislators know that you’ll be attending Safe Streets Day and that you’d welcome the opportunity to speak with them about supporting bike- and pedestrian-friendly legislation.

Your voice matters. We’ve made it easy with an Action Alert to email prewritten information to your elected officials. You can also add your personal story.
